Organized by Metro Broadcast, 2008 Metro Guo Yu Li Music Awards was successfully held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 30 July 2008, this is the only music award presentation ceremony that musicians from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Mainland China battled against each other.



When compared to the previous four presentation ceremonies where heavenly king Andy Lau dominates, it's a difference situation as he did not attend this year's ceremony. Eason Chan was the most outstanding with 5 awards, most of the singers won 2 awards each which includes S.H.E, Show Luo, Josie Ho, Ivana Wong, Soda Green, Anthony Wong, Gary Chaw, Guang Liang, Elva Hsiao and Irene-A. This does not avoid people refer it as distributing of the awards.



As the award ceremony is held in Hong Kong, most of the winners are Hong Kong singers. Those of higher popularity like Eason Chan, Joey Yung, Anthony Wong, Andy Lau and Twins were well taken care of.







Andy had won 2 awards which includes World's Top Stage Performer and Top Singer awards.

Andy Lau whom will be holding his concert in Taipei Arena this coming 21 and 22 November, even though he was location shooting with Shu Qi in Mainland China, he's already preparing himself and maintained his body, because he's a perfectionist. For every night after 1900 hours, he would not eat anything related to flour and eat only meat. He's also jogging and working out in the gym in hope to perform in his best shape. The organizer revealed that Andy would also be rehearse dancing in the later stage, Taiwanese would be able to see Andy's 6 abs muscles!




Andy had invested NT$2.5 billion on the stage which allows him to "drop from the sky", exciting magic performances will also be included, his beloved Andox and Blackie will also have special performance. Andy will be presenting a different kind of concert with several different elements included. For the upcoming Olympic Games, Andy Lau, Emil Zhou, Jay Chou and many musicians had created music for the games. With the opening ceremony near the corner, people started to make guesses of the game's theme song, when one are listening to the past games' theme songs, all efforts by singers touches everyone ....







On the opening ceremony on 8 August, the theme song for the Olympic Games will be announced. Currently everyone had their "favorite choice". Gathering from major websites, forums, discussion boards, it was found that Andy Lau's Everyone is No. 1 had the most support, the music video of the song is also cannot be compared.



During the shooting of the video, Andy also transform himself into a person with disability as he also wore an artificial limbs with his leg bandaged. By looking at the images, the fans will realized that it's a tough process. Professional Andy exclaimed that it's not tough during shooting, but when he went back to the hotel, he will feel pain throughout his whole body.



"I'm a healthy person, after wearing the artificial limb then I know how tough it is because one has to get used to many things, but they would require it for the rest of their life, it would be more tougher for them when compared to us." Andy think that it's unforgettable to wear the artificial limb and go onto the Great Wall of China, he said: "It's really very tough when going up, it's like a few steps then will require NG, this is not good, it will give away as it's not attached properly then the artificial limb will fall out." When Andy completed that scene, everyone applause him. "That time I feel that I'm really a sportsman, really falling down and picking oneself up many times, upgrade to a higher level.




In the music video, Andy also need to use a wheelchair which he used with ease, this is also an unforgettable experience for him. He's lucky to have shoot scenes on a wheelchair in his past movies, thus he learn how to move on a wheelchair.




Up till now, Andy does not know if he would be singing this song during the 2008 Olympic Games opening ceremony, however no matter if he's performing, he do hope to be present at the opening ceremony as it was known that he had already bought the tickets.








When asked of the past Olympic Games theme song, Andy said 1988's Hand In Hand gave him the deepest impression. "I feel that the song is a common feel, I hope that this year's Olympic Games song can also have a common feel as it can be accepted by everybody. Not to a very high extent, but it must be a great song that will directly moved everyone." According to Andy, the song that has the expression of everyone united is very important to be a good Olympic Games theme song.

Recently, Carina Lau whom recently recount her sorrow of being kidnapped many years ago. Manfred Wong whom was once the chairman of several Hong Kong Films Awards wrote in his blog about the incident of Hong Kong actors being forced to shoot movie by triads, he wrote: "Other than Carina Lau, those being forced for location shooting in Holland includes Andy Lau and Alex Man, this is the movie that Andy had a gun pointed to his head."

Financial magazine Forbes recently pointed out in its article the competitive market of mobile phones, finding a good spokesman is very important, thus they have an article titled 10 Celebs And Their Cells to select the 10 most influential mobile phones spokesmen list. This time round, the list of names are listed without any order, among the 10 celebs, there are two familiar Asian faces towards the end of the list, they are Andy Lau and Rain. Although Jay Chou is not listed, but his name is mentioned in the article.

Earlier Andy Lau was awarded Justices of the Peace Ordinance by the Hong Kong SAR Government, he made his first public appearance as a JP as he attended adidas Specially Made for Beijing (literally translated) exhibition opening ceremony and Beijing Olympic Games one month countdown at Causeway Bay. Among those attended includes table tennis aces Li Jing and Ko Lai Chak, fencing sportswoman Chow Tsz Ki whom had a fencing match with Andy where adidas donated $500,000 to Andy Lau Charity Fund to aid the Sichuan earthquake victims.







Andy expressed that he didn't celebrate being awarded JP as he revealed that several people addressed him as a JP which he could not get used to it. When asked if being a JP is a burden to him, Andy said: "With or without it is the same for me, it's an enouragement to me." Andy is also not worried that it will affect his work, as there will not be a problem to be a villain in films or appearing in films with violent scenes, he said: "It's just acting, it's not related, these are 2 different things." When asked if he will be going prison visits, he revealed that there will be related work within this year, thus he had hired a secretary to help him in such matters, however he had not received any job notice. Andy exclaimed if any detainee complaint to him, he will handle it seriously before considering whether need to follow up, he added: "If the citizens have any complaint, can tell me."







With regards to a Apple Daily reporter refused entry to Beijing to report on the Olympics Games, Andy also heard of the matter, he said: "I read anout it from the papers, if the reporter wanted to complain, can look for me, but I'm not very sure of the whole matter, thus I'm in no position to talk about this matter."







When asked if he thought of getting married after becoming a JP, Andy quipped that JP can get married too, but he would only answer such questions in a later period. When asked about the wedding of Tony Leung and Carina Lau, Andy expressed that he's unsure of the actual date as he quipped: "I read in the newspaper that it isn't this month, I'll call him, I'm busybody."







With regards to whether he will be attending the Olympic Games opening ceremony, Andy said: "I'll attended if invited, currently I'm not invited, but I bought tickets, if me going will cause a commotion and affect the flow of the ceremony, I would rather stay at home to watch."


In addition, the alleged love nest with alleged girlfriend Carol Zhu in Malaysia had become a tourist spot as someone whom visit Malaysia expressed online that when the tour bus drove past a street along the beach, the tour guide introduce a bungalow with white tower as the love nest of Andy and Carol. The person also expressed that Malaysian addressed Carol as Mrs. Lau, their relationship is already an open secret.

It was once alleged that Andy Lau will be cast in Red Cliff as Zhu Ge Liang but John Woo deny the allegation and exclaimed that they had already working on a new film.


Director John Woo was interviewed by Commercial Radio yesterday as he expressed that he always wanted to collaborate with Andy Lau due to his performance in Infernal Affairs and A World Without Thieves as his acting had entered another level. He also revealed that he hope to collaborate with Andy in a new film, they had plannings already.



He expressed that he met Andy during the Golden Horse Film Awards, Andy told him that he just need to called him in order to collaborate, they will soon collaborate. With regards to Zhu Ge Liang character in Red Cliff belongs to Andy, John exclaimed that it initially belongs to Tony Leung Chiu Wai but Tony rejected it as Tony is worried that he could not managed all the Chinese dialogues as he just finish shooting Lust.Caution, however later Tony was cast as Zhou Yu and Takashi Kaneshiro cast as Zhu Ge Liang.

After waiting for 6 years, fans of Andy Lau will finally see him hold his concert in Taiwan this coming 21 and 22 November, he will be staging 2 nights at Taipei Arena, this will also be Andy's first time performing there since its opening in 2005. He will be bringing his 2 sons Andox and Blackie to perform with him.



For the past 2 years, Andy had been invited to perform at the Taipei Arena but it's alleged that he's unhappy that performer are not allowed to bring their own lighting and sound system for installation, thus the delay of performing there. However for his Wonderful World world tour concert, he will be bringing his equipments from Japan. Being his virgin performance and perfectionist, Andy has high expectation of the stage, for the best visual effects, 30 cargoes are used, stored inside include the huge LED screen which will be appearing in Chinese performance for the first time.






Since September 2007, he had performed in 16 cities, total production fees had reached $2.5 billion.



During the concert, Andy will perform magic and Latin dance. With regards to the highly difficulties "strike by lighting" stunt, the venue must be inspected before deciding if it can be performed.

He said: "I'm very honored to be a Justice of Peace Ordinance, many thanks to the government for appointing me." He had already sworn-in to be a JP a few days ago.

Andy Lau was invited by General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China to be the charity ambassador of Products Identification Authentication and Tracking System (PIATS), to promote the Chinese government reinforcing products safety and supervision as it concerns the 13 billion Chinese's lifestyle and 50 billions of products safety.







To be chosen for this task, Andy exclaimed that he is very honored and he will give his full support to the government's reinforcing products safety and supervision. In order to allow consumer to understand what is PIATS, the commercial is expressed in different languages, it also require to have different angles facing the camera, the same phrase had to repeat more than 10 times. Andy quipped: "This can be considered as the commercial that I said the most words."

For this commercial, Andy specially tailor made 2 Chinese Samfoo, one in gray and another in black.







When the director see Andy wearing the Chinese Samfoo, he said to the person beside him: "Why he could be so handsome, no wonder normal looking people like us can only be those behind the screen."






Andy whom was currently busy shooting his new film said that he fully support this system as he said that one could not prevent nature disaster but one can always control and prevent man-made disaster.
