Since his latest Mandarin album - All About Love release on 4 August till today, a total of 1.5 million copies had been sold in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, which is a good result. Earlier, Andy Lau specially jet off to Tianjing to board its well-known aircraft carrier Charmland to held a large scale celebration dinner. Hundreds of media from Mainland China went to report on the dinner.
Aircraft carrier Charmland is a former Soviet aircraft carrier produced in 1970, it was parked in Tianjing since it retired in 1994 as a tourist attraction. The record company arranged the celebration to be held on a aircraft carrier wanted to describe Andy as a leading aircraft carrier in the music industry, success in every battle, stronger after every battle!
According to the album's distributor in Mainland China, Andy is this year's top-selling singer as it had sold a total of 1.5 million copies, no joke about that. Initially it was planned to hold the event on the deck and fireworks were prepared but the weather started to change to winter, with the strong wind, it would be dangerous to hold the event on the deck and finally decided to hold it inside the ship. Although the event could not be hold on the deck but Andy walked to almost all parts of the ship during his rehearsal to take photographs as remembrance.
In the celebration programme, the organiser arranged a 40 members orchestra to play for him while he sang. Different countries' top-selling awards were presented to him to congratulate him. Andy was also asked to do a wax mould of his hand with the symbol of the numbers "1", "5" and "0" for Andy to take home for remembrance which delights him.
Being described as the music industry's aircraft carrier, Andy quipped that he was delighted to attained such good results in his first album in 3 years, 1.5 million is a very satisfying figure and he hope that more copies would be sold as he could hold another celebration party.
