Currently Andy Lau was in Beijing for the rehearsal of CCTV Chinese New Year gala show, he also attended the CCTV Mainland China Movie Persons Celebration Gala to gather with the Chinese artistes which includes director Feng xiaogang, Cheng Hong, Zhao Wei, Liu Xiaoqing, Jiang Wen, Li Bingbing, Fan Bingbing and Zhang Guoli, meanwhile representative from Hong Kong and Taiwan includes Andy, Tusi Hark, Jonathan Li. Zhao Wei, Li Bingbing and Fan Bingbing did sing for the event while Andy sang 'Ai Ni Yi Wan Nian' as the finale of the night winning loud applause for all the audience.
When interviewed, Andy who was wearing a blue samfoo express that this is his first year of not spending the Chinese New Year in Hong Kong with his parents as he need to perform in the gala show and will only flew back to hong Kong on the first day of the Chinese New Year. Feng Xiaogang invite Andy back to his home for the new year, Andy says: "He told me that I should not stay in the hotel during the new year, spending it alone, he told me that he had invited many friends, it'll be crowded. I wish to experience the new year atmosphere in Beijing, we can eat dumplings and play fire-cracker together, it's being some time that I played with fire crackers, I could played till my full this time round."
Normally when Andy spend the new year in Hong Kong, he'll give red packets to his employees but this year being in China, he says: "This year, there're red packets with me on them, I brought many here to give to Feng, I want to collect RMB." Andy exclaimed that every year he won't be sleeping in the morning of the first day of Chinese New Year as he had to welcome the God of Fortune, thus after finishing his performance on Chinese New Year Eve, he'll immediately call back home to send his regards to his parents.
