To avoid the major releases of Chinese New Year films in December, Looking For a Star which is directed by Andrew Lau with a cast of Andy Lau, Shu Qi, Denise Ho and Zhang Han Yu will delayed its opening at the silver screen to January 2009. The film distributor revealed yesterday that the 120 minute film passed the censorship board without any cut, it will open in the cinema on 26 January, the first day of Chinese New Year.
Looking For A Star is the film heavily invested by Andrew Lau after Infernal Affairs, the film narrates millionaire Andy whom had three failed marriages meet Shu Qi, a dancer in a casino, he bring her from the grassroots of the world into the high society. It's quoted to be the modern Cinderella story.
Other than Andy and Shu Qi as the leads, the film also has another couple of different status in technician Zhang Han Yu and highly paid Denise Ho.
According to the introduction, the film company think that this comedy is suited to the Chinese New Year festive atmosphere, the submission to the censorship board is very successful, no scenes is cut.
